○ an exploration of how mending can affect the gap between the physical and the digital world, using the speculative realm to examine curative possibilities of interactivity.

This publication is a collaboration conceived by third year I/M/D students(2020) as a bridge between the courses of Research Writing and Interactive Textiles. Each essay is an inquiry into mending, both individual and collective, on a microcosmic and macrocosmic level, with themes ranging from anti-consumerism to space travel. The cut through design disrupts and unifes the works, transforming the reading experience into one which is active and tactile.

The making and research of Aperture took us beyond our skins, beyond healing or tearing, to fuse the inside with the outside, changing how we view the individual act in relation to the greater whole of a globalised society.
